A Word From our Pastor

The School Age Child Development Center

“Planting Seeds in Our Future”

We at Union Grove Baptist Church are grateful to our Lord Jesus Christ for this opportunity to build lasting experiences with children. Christ demonstrated His love for children over and over in the Scriptures. He used a child to illustrate the most important spiritual truth in the New Testament, which is about our attitude in conversion and toword spiritual growth. He said “Verily I say unto you, except ye be converted and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven” (Matthew 18:3).

Our School Age Child Development Center is a tremendous opportunity to be a part of God’s hand in shaping a child’s future, as well as ministering to the whole family. The Scriptures are so plain. “Lo, children are an heritage of The LORD; and the fruit of the womb is His reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are the children of the youth” (Psalm 127:3-4).

Children are “a heritage”, the Hebrew word is the word we get the term “heirloom”. A heirloom is usually something of great monetary value, but the greatest value is what the heirloom represents. Children represent every aspect of our future. No monetary value could ever be placed on such an heirloom.

The other word that is of great importance in these verses is “arrows”. Arrows are instruments that can be used for all kinds of purposes. Those purposes are all found in the heart of the archer that shoots the arrows. The child must be “shot-straight” toward the right target. We are going to be a part of God’s hand in not only shaping the future of children, but in “shooting” them toward the right target. Many other things are also a part of their flight in life, but we desire only God’s best for each child.

Let’s make a covenant together to ask our Lord to guide us daily as we are used of Him to shoot the “arrows” He sends our way, toward the goals He has for them. They are our “heirlooms”.
